UNITED KINGDOM, June 6 – Leicester City are looking at signing Kenyan midfielder Victor Wanyama from Southampton if they lose N’Golo Kante to Paris Saint-Germain, according to reports.

Kante has emerged as a major target for the French champions following his superb season for the Foxes.

Should the French midfielder leave the King Power Stadium, it will leave a massive hole in the engine room of Claudio Ranieri’s side.

However, Wanyama is seen as the perfect replacement and he could be available for sale given that he has turned down a new contract offer with the Saints.

Yet if Leicester are to land Wanyama, they will have to beat off some stiff competition from Tottenham Hotspur, who have been strongly linked with the player.

Reports claims that Wanyama’s price would be in the region of Sh3.6 billion (£25-million).

Meanwhile, Southampton FC was full of praise to Wanyama after the Kenyan skipper led his Harambee Stars team to a 2-1 victory over Congo in Sunday’s 2017 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifier.

Wanyama played the full 90 minutes and set up the decisive second goal which was scored by Mathare United midfielder Eric Johanna.

This was Kenya’s first win in five attempts of their Group E qualification group with their only other point recorded so far also coming against Congo.
